I promised I'd share my own Photoshop Action that creates faux tintype (ferrotype) effects. Here it is!
The action file has two different tintype effects. The first one creates a light tintype result, while the second creates a dark tintype result. Both effects were created using real tintype photos as examples, and sampling the actual colors from the tintypes. The above example image shows the original photo, the first (light) tintype effect, and the second (dark) tintype effect.
I created this action file on a Mac using Photoshop 7.0. I hope it works for you.
